The Cybermen are a race of cyborg humans, originally from the planet Mondas. The decaying environment of Mondas drove its inhabitants to adopt more and more cybernetic implants and prosthetics in order to survive, until almost no humanity remains and the Cyberman is born.

The Cybermen truly believe that being "upgraded" saves people. That they are weak and lead pointless lives as purely organic, and that by preserving their brain in a metal suit, people are made superior. Emotions are seen as a weakness to the Cybermen and so they are disabled using an Emotional Inhibitor, though this also serves to prevent the brain inside dying from shock when it realises what it has become.

Appearance[]

Cybermen are giants, reaching around 7 feet in height, clad entirely in silver body-armour, and are easily recognisable from the twin handles that frame their heads. Cybermen are almost completely uniform in appearance, with all individuality of the human within removed. Cyber Leaders and Controllers adopt some very slight cosmetic changes to distinguish them from the rest. While it may vary from generation to generation of Cybermen, Cyber Leaders often have black handles on their heads rather than the traditional silver; and Cyber Controllers will often have a transparent dome on their cranium, revealing the brain underneath.

How to Defeat[]

The Cybermen are exceptionally strong, being made of a thick steel armor without organic parts within to be broken or crippled. They can also deal significant damage very quickly using their in-built blaser. A weapon which does very high damage is needed to defeat the Cybermen. The Laser Screwdriver will work against them, and there are other weapons made specifically for use against them:

  • EMP Bomb: Any Cybermen caught in the blast of this bomb will become frienzied, attacking anything nearby. After a few seconds it will suffer a critical system failure and die.
  • Anti-Cyber Rifle: This weapon will do significant damage to the Cybermen, but less damage to anything else.

They can also be deactived using Robotics Expert perk.
